Congratulations are in order for the cast of Glee! In its freshman year, the show received four Golden Globe nominations, including best television series – musical or comedy and acting nods for three of its stars: Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele and Jane Lynch.
As hunky high school teacher Will Schuester, Morrison has wooed guidance counselor Emma Pilsbury (Jayma Mays) and fans alike, but to win the Globe for best comedic TV actor, he’ll have to sway voters away from previous winners Alec Baldwin, Steve Carrell and David Duchovny, as well as newcomer Thomas Jane.
Michele, who plays Glee’s wannabe superstar Rachel Berry, will face stiff competition from two-time winner Tina Fey in the best comedic TV actress category. Their fellow nominees include Toni Collette, Courteney Cox Arquette and Edie Falco.
If there’s a standout among these three stars, it’s Lynch, who has been wowing audiences with her deliciously evil turn as cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester from the start of the season. The actress will compete against Chloe Sevigny, Jane Adams, Janet McTeer and Rose Byrne for the small screen’s best supporting actress Globe.
