Saturday night, SNL performed a great parody skit of the new MTV hit reality show Jersey Shore

By now, we're all very aware that "Jersey Shore" party girl Snookie (a.k.a. Nicole Polizzi) "invented the poof" — as in, before those infamous Bumpits came along, she had already been making her hair raise to new heights. So given that her locks have become so infamous (after only four episodes of the new MTV series!), I was honored to receive a poof from Snooks when she stopped by the MTV Newsroom yesterday.

Reporter Tim Kash proposed the idea and before I had time to formulate a response, I was sitting under the bright newsroom lights with Tim on my left and Snookie on my right. She started teasing my hair and the poof immediately began to take form. "You have to tease the sh*t out of it," she insisted. After about five minutes she began to spray it wildly with hairspray (we found out she prefers the Aussie brand) and then clipped it up. According to the reality star, "Two weeks ago I was a nobody, and now everyone's trying to do the poof." And after having it created on my own head, I can honestly say: it's one sick 'do.

Jersey Shore, MTV's new controversial reality show which stars eight of the "hottest, tannest, craziest Guidos" who live and party together for a summer, will face a criticism when they air the epsiode in which one of the stars, Snookie, gets punched in the face by a random man at a bar. Why did Snookie get punched?

According to the Philly Times:

A cast member of an MTV show filming at the Jersey Shore got a fistful of reality Wednesday when an inebriated New York man punched her in the face during a taping at an Ocean County bar.

Seaside Heights Police Chief Thomas Boyd confirmed yesterday that the woman who was hit inside the Beachcomber Bar & Grill a little after 2 a.m. Wednesday was part of MTV's latest foray at the popular resort town.

"It's a reality series," he said. "I think it's about Italians at the Shore."

You should never hit a girl! That being said we can’t say that Snookie wasn’t cruising for it, and most of her foul-mouthed antics are certainly less than lady-like...

Snookie of MTV’s Jersey Shore got punched on the face by a random man at a bar. The puncher turns out to ba a gym teacher.

The issue here is whether it was appropriate for MTV to show the clip where Snookie gets a really good punch on the face from a really big man.

She was also shown slumped on the floor after recieving the punch. The man was also shown being led away in handcuffs by a cop.

MTV is attempting to defuse the growing storm by showing an anti-violence PSA after next week’s episode.

The video footage of Snookie from MTV’s Jersey Shore taking a punch to the face is making the rounds, though MTV will not air it on the reality series.


Watch this video clip as Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi gets smashed in the face by NYC gym teacher Brad Ferro at a bar. Ferro was arrested and found guilty of assault, fined $500 and given a six-month suspended jail sentence.

MTV issued a statement about pulling Snookie’s punch from the upcoming episode:
What happened to Snooki was a crime and obviously extremely disturbing. After hearing from our viewers, further consulting with experts on the issue of violence, and seeing how the video footage has been taken out of context not to show the severity of this act or resulting consequences, MTV has decided not to air Snooki being physically punched in the face.”

Snookie is shown talking trash to some guy (he doesn’t appear to be a cast member) and he reacts by punching her in the face. She falls to the floor and the guy gets hauled off to jail. Wow! There was nothing entertaining about watching Snookie get punched in the face, no matter how annoying she can be. And some people are saying there’s nothing entertaining about this controversial show in general.
Italian Americans are mad because the Italian-American cast is encouraging negative stereotypes, the Jersey Shore tourism board is mad that it doesn’t represent the Jersey Shore well, and some viewers are mad that the cast is a poor representation of young people in general. Snookie is shown talking trash to some guy (he doesn’t appear to be a cast member) and he reacts by punching her in the face. She falls to the floor and the guy gets hauled off to jail. Wow! There was nothing entertaining about watching Snookie get punched in the face, no matter how annoying she can be. And some people are saying there’s nothing entertaining about this controversial show in general.
Italian Americans are mad because the Italian-American cast is encouraging negative stereotypes, the Jersey Shore tourism board is mad that it doesn’t represent the Jersey Shore well, and some viewers are mad that the cast is a poor representation of young people in general. I watched this show for the first time tonight after a reader told me I should watch it, but I don’t know if I can stand to watch these guidos anymore! One hour was enough. I felt greasy just watching it. The guys all remind me of those annoying Gotti boys. They all look the same, talk the same and probably smell the same – like an assload of cologne and jager bombs.
