The veteran journalist revealed that he had surgery last month to relieve a malignant tumor in his chest. Part of his lung was removed.
He will be seeing his surgeon again next week.
"We had told a few people, we told my family, obviously. I even kept it from my staff at Real Sports," he said. "So I'm okay for the time being."
He joked, "I'm hoping they green light me to play golf again."
