Wes Welker Injury : VIDEO

The latest reports on the severity Wes Welker’s knee injury don’t appear positive for the New England Patriots.

Welker was carted off the sideline during the first quarter after injuring his left knee against the Texans. He sustained the injury when he attempted to cut upfield after a 12-yard reception, and then had to be helped to the sideline by team trainers.

NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi reports the Patriots fear Welker might have torn both the anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in the knee, according to source close to the team. NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports initial tests revealed damage to both the ACL and MCL, and that the injury is likely season-ending.

An MRI exam, scheduled for Monday, will likely confirm the severity of the injury.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick did not have an update on Welker’s status following the game.
